WELCOME TO SIMTOS 2006/The IMS Vision Forum 2006

The IMS Vision Forum 2006 hopes to seek consensus on the direction of innovation in manufacturing for the next-generation growth engines.

We cordially invite you to join the IMS community and world leading experts to discuss and visualize the “Direction of Innovation in Manufacturing for the Next-Generation Growth Engines”. IMS, the world’s only government-supported multi-lateral international program for manufacturing research, has found experts with a clear future vision of social evolution, the global demand for goods, and the advanced manufacturing techniques that will be required to deliver those goods for presentations and open group discussions. The forum program will focus on future manufacturing problems that involve different areas of the supply chain including small to large business enterprises that must be solved through global collaboration.

Following the keynote speeches, discussion groups will examine the sub-theme topics and give their view on future trends. After the trends have been identified, the discussion groups will develop methods to establish or revitalize networks to disseminate the information needed to align industry and IMS strategy to the vision. Recommendations will be made and published by IMS in a manner presentable to governments, industry, and researchers to influence their support and guide direction to future research activities. The discussion groups will then share their findings in an open session, then a panel discussion will follow and concluding remarks will be made.

The IMS Vision Forum 2006 should be of interest to industry CTOs, researchers, industrial associations, senior level R&D managers, and government officials. It will be held 12-13 April 2006, and the free registration is limited, so we encourage you to register early.

In addition, the forum will be held in conjunction with the 12th Seoul International Machine Tool Show (SIMTOS), which will draw roughly 50,000 attendees. This is an excellent opportunity to combine a visit to both events.

The IMS Vision Forum 2006 will be followed by an IMS Project Meeting to discuss current activities, review IMS news, and discuss new value-added programs IMS is implementing to assist them.

We hope you will find this special event a great opportunity to witness and participate in an international meeting designed to help influence the future in manufacturing research. We look forward to seeing you there.

Best regards,
